Dr George Goodheart DC, the father of Kinesiology said “The body is simply intricate and intricately simple. If you supply the right measure you will get the right response.” Kinesiology is defined primarily as the use of muscle testing to identify imbalances in the body's structural, chemical, emotional or other energy, to establish the body's priority healing needs, and to evaluate energy changes brought about by a broad spectrum of both manual and non-manual therapeutic procedures.
Kinesiology, therefore, may be understood as a system of natural health care which combines muscle monitoring with the principles of Chinese medicine to assess energy and body function, applying a range of gentle yet powerful healing techniques to improve health, wellbeing and vitality.
Initial research began in the U.S. in the 1930's and was expanded in the 1960's by chiropractors embracing techniques derived from Chinese medicine using acupressure and meridian systems. Kinesiology combines this knowledge with modern muscle monitoring techniques to balance the person, although through its dual East-West roots, Kinesiology actually extends back thousand of years. Kinesiology is able to facilitate the natural healing process.
While manual muscle monitoring appears simple, it is a precise feedback mechanism. The accuracy is based on the neurological and physiological arrangement of the human system that is, in any given moment, processing many pieces of information about its position and state. Although only a fraction of this information comes to conscious awareness, the subconscious mind is always aware of everything going on within and around the person. This same subconscious mind also stores all out life memories in exquisite detail, together with all their emotional charges, even though we may not consciously be able to recall them.
The normally inaccessible unconscious also determines muscle response to stress. Muscle monitoring applies moderate pressure to a specific muscle, therefore can directly communicate into the infinite subconscious realm.
How can it help?
Kinesiology can assist and often help people experience many of the following problems:
Emotional Stress problems, Physical imbalances often resulting in pain, Mental problems generally involving the area of learning, (eg. ADD, ADHD, Dyslexia etc) either at school or at work and play, Nutritional imbalances / deficiencies resulting in disease state, Relationship difficulties and is a great tool in counselling often getting to the root cause of the problem in a very short time, Enhancement in sports performance as well as injury prevention, Goal setting, Overcoming phobias which can be life destroying for many people, Clearing chemical and food allergies and intolerance, Plus giving a new self responsibility to each person so they can take charge of their own life.
